Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have to book in advance ?

Yes, we recommend that if possible you book in advance online as tours can fill up especially in the summer months and also some dates may not be on the booking calendar.

To book please go to our tickets and travel page and click on BOOK NOW. Our ticket collection and meeting point is inside Caledonia Scotia Kilt shop opposite the Hawes Pier and car park.

What cash currency do you accept?

We accept Pounds, Euros and Dollars.

Is there a lot of walking?

No, there are short walks between the locations.

Will the tour still take place in the rain?

Yes, we will aim to take shelter where we can but our weather system in Scotland can provide us with 4 seasons in one day so please dress appropriately.

Are tours suitable for those with disabilities?

Currently our tours are not suitable for those in wheelchairs or have walking difficulties due to steps, hills and in areas old uneven pavements. This is an area we are looking into and hope to provide a suitable tour for those with walking difficulties in the future.

Anyone with poor sight or who is registered blind needs to be accompanied during the tour. If you require a carer to accompany you they will go free.

What language is the tour conducted in?

Our tours are in English. Sometimes our guides have nominated someone in the group who speaks English to assist them with the groups chosen language.

Can children go on the tour?

Yes, though there are some stairs so buggy users be warned. Children 4 or under go free and 5-15 £5. All children must be accompanied by an adult

Can I bring my dog on the tour?

We don't mind, however you will have to leave your dog outside of all of the establishments we visit for sometimes as long as 20mins which may be inconvenient. All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

What happens if I turn up late for the tour?

Due to the tours being timed we have to stick to our schedule. If you have already bought a ticket we will leave without you, though you can join the tour at our next stage. If you have not yet bought your ticket we will advise you to join the next tour.

What happens if I can't make the tour that I've paid for?

Tickets are non refundable however we will try to reschedule you on to another tour.

What happens if a tour is cancelled?

It is very unlikely that a tour will be cancelled however in the likelihood of a tour being cancelled we will inform you and provide you with reschedule options.

Can I take photographs?

Yes you can take photographs throughout the tour as long as it does not interfere with others enjoyment of the tour. We will also stop at specific view points to allow you to do this.

Can I film the tour?

No, sorry we don't allow filming even on mobile phones. This can be disruptive and anyone doing so will be asked to stop and if they persist may even be asked to leave the tour.

What happens if someone is drunk or disruptive on the tour?

We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone intoxicated and if a problem arises once the tour has started the person will be asked to leave the tour.

Are there toilets on the tour?

Yes, there are public toilets in the High Street and in the museum.
